Hannah Bjorkman, Staff Writer
Hannah Bjorkman ’18 is an athlete, a twin, a dog rescuer and a To Kill a Mockingbird enthusiast. The budding journalist and recent addition to the Inklings staff sails through sophomore year with a permanent smile on her face and an adventurous outlook on life. After Bjorkman and her brother’s birth in New York City, their family packed up their bags and headed to Westport. Growing up with a twin who never failed to take advantage of his one-minute seniority, Bjorkman now seeks to pave her own way through high school that differs from that of her “older” brother’s. Her path is built upon her love for tennis, soccer and animals, as well as her interest in Inklings. “I’m not sure what I want to pursue, but I thought I’d give it a try,” Bjorkman said optimistically. Although she is currently dipping her toes into the waters of journalism, Bjorkman is most enthusiastic about animals and remembers realizing this passion at age 11 when she returned her neighbor’s escaped dog to its owners. “It was my good deed of the day,” Bjorkman said. “It felt so good just helping out.” Scout, her family dog who was named after the main character of To Kill a Mockingbird, fuels Bjorkman’s passion for helping animals and inspires her to possibly pursue a future in veterinary work or animal awareness.
