On Friday Jan. 6th, the Staples boys basketball team was defeated in a 46-41 home loss to Fairfield Ludlowe.
Team captain Mike Argosh ’12 brought the game to a tie going into the fourth quarter with two successful 3-pointers, but missed shots and two ill-timed fouls in the final minutes that ultimately cost them the possibility of ending in a tie.
“We felt we could have done better in our holiday tournament over the break so we looked to rebound from that,” Peter Rankowitz ’13 said.
Vasili Tziolis ’12 had high hopes for Tuesday night’s game. “I’m confident we can turn it around,” Tziolis said.
Staples did get the comeback that they were hoping for with a win in double overtime against Central 74-72. Junior Peter Rankowitz made key plays that pushed Staples to the win.
Staples’ next game in Thursday Jan. 12 at New Cannan High School at 7:00.
