The Staples girls’ volleyball team avenged last year’s lost to St. Joseph’s when they beat the team 3-0 on Oct. 19.
“This year’s team gets along very well which helps their performance in the game,” said co-captain Joojse Grevers ‘12. The cooperation paid dividends and the Wreckers won all three games easily. (25-17, 25-20, 25-16).
When the final whistle blew, the Wreckers showed their excitement, but were reserved, playing with a lot of confidence.
The game was won with a mix of strategies: spikes and smart decisions when the opportunities presented themselves. Coach Jon Shepro was happy with the outcome of the game.
“It was a fantastic game for the team,” said Shepro. “St. Joeseph is a great competitor, and they played very well. This season is one of the best in Staples girls’ volleyball history.”
Staples currently stands second in the FCIAC, with only one lost to perennial power house Darienso far this season.
