On Sept. 21, Principal John Dodig addressed the school during Communication Time, explaining his new goals for the school.
Dodig feels that today’s world demands active new teaching and learning styles that allow the students to meet twenty–first century challenges. His point was illustrated by a video of a speech made by Swedish statistician Hans Rosling. The video was supplied by TED, a nonprofit foundation designed to make speeches available to the public.
Dodig’s 10 mintue address, was accompanied by 12 questions that asked viewers to consider Rosling’s speech, which concerned the differences between developed and developing countries.
It was a weighty topic, significantly different than what students typically see on the morning show. Inklings asked several students what they thought of Dodig’s address and the new school goals.
