Even though the election is over and Donald Trump has won, Hillary Clinton is still having conflicts; Clinton used a private email server to deliver 33,000 emails with classified information. However, FBI director James Comey was unable to say that these warranted an indictment, and the situation was dropped.
Several people have suspicions about this topic. Andrew Breschard ‘18 said, “ I think it’s despicable. There were multiple reports that the FBI had enough information to indict her for the emails containing classified information on an insecure server.” He went on to say, “According to Title 18 U.S. Code 798, “Whoever knowingly and willfully communicates, furnishes, transmits, or otherwise makes available to an unauthorized person, or publishes, or uses in any manner prejudicial to the safety or interest of the United States or for the benefit of any foreign government to the detriment of the United States any classified information shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.” He finished by saying, “Classified documents are always marked. There is no way someone can accidentally remove classified information from the secure government server, and put them on to an insecure server. It just doesn’t happen.”
He is not the only one who has strong opinions on this issue. Calum Gordon ‘19 said, “She needs to be in jail.”
However another student Buster Scher 18’ had a very different view on this: he sees it almost as a set-up. He said, “It was pointless before and it’s even more pointless now. I think even Trump knows that.” The investigation has been closed, and the allegations are over with, but that does not mean it won’t come up again.
