Bridgewater Associates facilities in Westport received a bomb threat at its 1 Glendinning Pl, headquarters on Wednesday around 3:30 p.m.
It is unsure how the threat was conveyed and who at the Hedge Fund received it. According to Westport News and Patch.com Bridgewater Associates evacuated at three locations in Westport, which included Glenndinning Place, Nyala Farms, and Riverside offices.
Alex Cheema ’18 drove by the Nyala Farms location around 3:30 p.m. and said, “I saw a fire truck and a bunch of employees standing outside of the building”. When asked if he saw police cars or anything else, he responded that they “could have been there, but I didn’t see them.”
Samantha Pacilio ’19 also drove by the situation she said, “When my mom and I drove by there were many police cars and a lot of chaos going on. There was traffic getting out of the building. You could sense something happened.” She went on to say, “I don’t know much about the situation, but I know they got a call which were bomb threats against the office.”
According to Westport Now, the bomb threat could have been connected to Bridgewater announcing in September that it was going to have layoffs. However, no evidence has been found to show that this is the case.
