“Staples Got Class” makes schedule sharing easier for students

On Tuesday, May 31, Dylan Diamond ’17 released his sixth iPhone application, “Staples Got Class.”

“Staples Got Class” is a schedule sharing application available for all iOS devices in the App Store that allows Staples students to see who is in their classes and view other student’s schedules for the 2016-2017 school year.

Diamond’s creation of this application followed a website he created last year that allowed students just to see who was in their classes the following year.

I had made the website at the end of last school year and I was pleased with how well that did at Staples and that it was able to help students know who was in their classes.” Diamond ’17 said. “This year, I thought it would be cool to make an app to streamline that process and provide even more access to your schedule information and classmates.”

Many Staples students are excited to download the new application after receiving their 2016-2017 class schedules at 2 p.m. today.

“I think it’s a great way for students to get familiar with their classmates before the start of the school year, so the first day isn’t so awkward” Luke Welch ’19 said.

Yet, for other students, Diamond’s new application causes worry. “It stresses me out if I find out I have no friends in my classes and I have to worry about it all summer” Claudia Lagnese ’17 said.

According to Diamond, “Staples Got Class” is also available online, so students can utilize two platforms of schedule sharing before the first day of school, Sept. 1.

I think Dylan is a genius and can certainly see the value in all of his work,” guidance counselor Victoria Capozzi said. I would love it if students would take a big deep breath and realize some of their greatest friends will be the ones they have not met yet.”
