Math teacher Theron Kissinger was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault on Jan. 15, according to Westport police.
Following an investigation police alleged that Kissinger had “an inappropriate sexual relationship” that began in Nov. 2014 with a female Staples student whom he tutored.
On Jan. 14, Superintendent Elliott Landon sent an email to parents regarding “a teacher at Staples High School [who] was under investigation based upon information the school district gleaned from an outside source.”
“Upon learning of the investigation, we immediately placed the teacher on administrative leave,” Landon said in the email.
Kissinger was released after posting a $50,000 bond and is set to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Jan. 23.
