On Monday, Aug. 27, now called Westport Little League Day, Westport held a parade to celebrate the ten and eleven year old softball state champions and the nation’s second-ranked 12U baseball champions. First, the Little League teams made their way through downtown. Following this, the procession moved to the Levitt Pavillion. On stage, many political figures, including First Selectman Gordon Joseloff, Senators Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, and Congressman Jim Himes, spoke in admiration of both of the teams.

About the Contributor
Emma Lederer, Staff Writer
After three years of working on Inklings, Emma Lederer ’16 has found a passion for writing
opinions. “I just have a lot of opinions,” she said with a laugh.
She joined Inklings directly out of Intro, and was one of the only freshman in the class. “It was a
little intimidating at first,” she admits, “but I learned the ropes that way.”
When she’s not writing for Inklings, she can be found working on Soundings, Staples’s “kinda
underrated” literary magazine.
Looking forward to senior year, Lederer is most excited for the football games, even though
she’s never been the biggest sports fan –– she’s excited to have school spirit going into her last
year.
