From May 6-8, the 76th Annual Dogwood Festival was held once again in efforts to raise money for local and worldly charities at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church in Fairfield. With dogwood trees in full bloom scattered across the greens, families and patrons enjoyed venturing to different booths consisting of hand-made crafts, food, and activities.
Caroline Trock, who brought her children to the festival on Saturday, makes an appearance at the festival every year with her family.
“We love to see all the crafts, and of course, I love all the belts, the fashion,” said Trock.
One booth that is particularly popular features the silhouettist Carol Lebeaux. With a well-established reputation throughout New England and having been previously featured in Vogue, Lebeaux has been cutting portrait silhouettes at the festival for around 20 years, working directly from the sitting model.
Although the festival provided activities for all ages and various booths, what was most prevalent is what the festival is really about, the dogwoods. With white and pink flowers in full bloom, the trees lined the way, announcing that spring has finally come.
