After its long-awaited opening on Jan. 12, Five Guys Burgers and Fries began operation with hundreds of curious eaters, many of them Staples students, lining up for a meal. The fast food restaurant, which will employ 47 people, is one of three Five Guys franchises owned by the Marona family of Newtown. Known nationwide for its French fries and hamburgers cooked in peanut oil, Westport’s Five Guys franchise is one of 200 the Washington-based chain plans on opening in 2010. The restaurant, located at 538 Post Road East, is in a renovated building formerly home to Totally Kool.
