I look forward to the latest “This is a Wreckording” episode every time a new one is announced. I love that the school has this, but it seems to be addressed mostly to kids interested in sports. Could there be a couple episodes that deal with other issues? Could it be more inclusive to the entire school population and not just the athletic group of kids? Could the questions asked of Mr. Thomas not just be soft ball questions like, “How do you spend your day?”
It’s such a useful, wonderful platform, and powerful tool. Couldn’t we put it towards a more meaningful use? We have diversity issues in the school that don’t seem to get addressed. We have climate change issues, a national election coming up, graduation for seniors, college selection for Seniors. Some people are really upset about the use of drones in town by the police department to track people’s movement. Is the school involved in that with the school police officers? Some people still can’t get testing at BMS. Does the administration know if or how many students are currently affected by COVID? Ethan Frank’s interviews are a great resource for landing an ESPN internship, but it’d be great if he could use his platform for the betterment of the entire school. If “This is a Wreckording” is purposely for the athletic department and students interested in sports, could inklings also sponsor a podcast that isn’t mostly directed at sports? Maybe have a female voice hosting the podcast? Or a host that offers more diverse opinions and views?
Thanks for reading my opinion,
Sarah
