Staples Boys’ XC runs to third place in Bowdoin
This past Saturday Sept 27, 2015, the Staples boys’ cross country team earned a third place finish at the prestigious Bowdoin classic in Wappinger Falls, New York. Racing against the Christian Brothers Academy, the number one ranked team in the country, the cross country team was able to receive third place on the back of junior Zak Ahmad’s 14th place finish.
“It was a big race. It was a good experience to race against some of the top teams in not only the northeast but the entire country. We’re happy with how we compared,” Ahmad ‘17 said.
While Christian Brothers placed first and Haddonfield High School finished second, the efforts of Captains James Lewis ‘16 (16th place) and Chase Gornbein ‘16 (20th place) along with junior Brendan Harrington’ 17 (21st place) have the Wreckers feeling confident as they approach the playoffs in a couple of weeks.
“We performed very well against some great out of state competition and we are all excited to prove ourselves at our state meet in a few weeks,” captain James Lewis ‘16 said.
