The Staples Varsity basketball team utilized excellent defense and offense to win against Trinity Catholic 71-57. It marks the team’s first victory this season.
The game started with back and forth scoring by the teams, but shortly into the first half, Staples hit their stride and pulled ahead, thanks to a strong performance by forwards Mike Argosh ’12 and Gabe Seidman ’11.
By the start of the second half, Staples had a well established 43-27 lead. Trinity Catholic failed to challenge Staples, who continued to play an aggressive offense, allowing for a wide lead by the time the game finished.
The Head Varsity Coach, Colin Devine, and his team, had positive attitudes about the team’s future this season. “I can’t remember the last time we beat Trinity Catholic. It boosts our morale.” James Frusciante ’13, a Guard, said to Staples Televison Network. “We’re ready to take down lots of the powerhouses of FCIAC.”
