The Wreckers improved to 2-0 Friday night with a 35-6 blowout win over the Norwalk Bears at Testa Field.
Tyler Jacobs ’11 led the way on offense, defense, and special teams, racking up 71 rushing yards, intercepting three Norwalk passes, and returning a punt 52 yards for the Wreckers’s first touchdown.
In addition to Jacobs’ 71 yards, quarterback Chester Pajolek ’11 ran for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Despite being intercepted twice by Norwalk, the senior quarterback completed 8 of 13 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown pass to Chris Coyne ’11. Running back John Heil ’12 added to the attack with 65 rushing yards and a touchdown on just five carries while also catching two passes for 25 yards.
On defense, the Wreckers pressured Norwalk into four interceptions, with three coming from Jacobs and one from Greg Strauss ’13. They also forced a late fumble that led to Coyne’s touchdown reception. The defense held the Bears to just 56 yards passing and 98 total yards rushing, with 54 of the rushing yards coming on the Bears’ final drive of the game.
Next week the Wreckers will take on the Ridgefield Tigers on Oct. 1 at Tiger Hollow in Ridgefield, in what could arguably be the biggest game of the year for Staples.
