The 2010 Golf team is out on a mission.
All-State senior co-captain Dylan Murray ’10 looks to keep Staples Golf a state-wide threat, coming off an outstanding 21-0 season, which came with the Class LL State Championship.
What more could this young squad ask for?
“We want to win the FCIAC this year, win the Chappa and Holohan Tournaments, as well as defend our State Title,” said Murray. “Most importantly we want to remain humble.”
Looking to aid Murray this year will be his All-State co-captain Kirk Massie ’11, as well as teammates Conor Mahoney ’11, and Austin Alianello ’12, who as a freshman last season got key playing time at the varsity level.
“As of now, our fifth spot is uncertain. There are a lot of good sophomores and juniors battling it out,” said Murray.
To achieve the success they are looking to bring back, Murray said “we just need to help each other out and try to be one unit. Although golf is an individual sport, the team is different. We need to all rely on each other as much as we can.”
The toughest match-ups on the schedule are Greenwhich, which will be at home this year, and New Canaan due to their standout Brian Tohir.
The Wreckers are coached by Tom Owen.

it’s spelled Greenwich, not Greenwhich.
