Qdoba (finally) debuts to rave reviews
It’s been a long time coming, but Staples students can now rejoice with the latest addition to downtown Westport’s restaurant scene. Twenty-minute treks up to Chipotle in Fairfield can now be a thing of the past, as Qdoba Mexican Grill makes its home at 275 Post Road East in Playhouse Square.
A dynamic duo of convenience and deliciousness characterizes the new Mexican joint, and Restaurant Manager Erick Viveros says that since opening last week, business has only been getting better. Students flocked to the restaurant’s opening on Monday for an all-you-can-eat, donation-driven Mexican food extravaganza that Viveros says raised $1300 in support of ALS.
For those hesitant to give “fast food” Mexican a shot, be aware that in no way does “fast” equal worse. Qdoba is “easily the best food since Nutella and bread were slathered together,” Andrew Dobrich ’15 says . Ray Niver ’16 lauds Qdoba’s unique option of putting shredded chips inside the burrito.
A mere fifteen minutes after school, Qdoba is full of students in need of an after-school snack and it’s easy to see why. The restaurant has “a very welcoming vibe” Michael Cusa ’16 says, and Ryan Baer ’16 adds that the people who work there are exceptionally friendly. Niver says that his favorite aspect of the Qdoba experience is that “the people don’t judge me when I go up to get my second burrito!”
So go ahead and take a stroll down Post Road to this excellent Mexican establishment and make the burrito of your dreams complete with guacamole, shredded tortilla chips, or whatever your heart desires. But be careful when bragging to friends how big your burrito was, because Viveros warns, “If you have a burrito without queso, it’s not a real burrito.”
