Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate family and be thankful for all that you have.
You would think people would be excited about a luxurious day of eating and absolutely no activity. Thanksgiving is a great opportunity for a day of downtime. However, people think that getting a 100 dollar television is more important than anything, even family.
Since the 1900s, Black Friday has been a time for people to get great deals on items that would originally be much more expensive. According to BlackFriday.com, the term “Black Friday” started in the 1960s to mark the kickoff to the Christmas shopping season.
Every year millions of Americans wake up bright and early in order to get to department stores as soon as they open. In recent years, Black “Friday” now starts on Thanksgiving “Thursday.”
People are so desperate to find cheap gifts for the holiday season, off to the mall they go. That big turkey dinner undigested and the football games still going.
From a comfy couch to a possibly dangerous environment. According to BlackFridayDeathCount.com, in 2013 there was one death and 15 injuries on the crazy shopping day.
People put their lives on the line just to buy products that are on super sale, which is completely ridiculous.
Thanksgiving should be about sharing a great big meal with your family and thinking about all the things you are thankful for. Thanksgiving shouldn’t be about scheduling everything around your plans for Black Friday.
Cherish your youth. Appreciate the time that you have with your relatives as a teenager.
According to DailyFinance, about one quarter of Americans surveyed in 2013 said they never miss and visit at least one store on Black Friday.
Don’t be a statistic. Appreciate Thanksgiving and realize what Thanksgiving is all about. Giving thanks.
