Nordstrom’s grand opening in new mall
Nordstrom had its pre-opening party, “Night out in Norwalk” at the SoNo Collection on Oct. 10. Customers were able to enjoy an open bar, cafe, food and shopping.
Nordstrom is one of the anchor stores at the mall, and only the second Nordstrom to open in Connecticut. It is three stories and 140,000 square feet. The store features clothes, four shoe departments and accessories.
“When I heard about Nordstrom opening I was really excited since it’s one of my favorite places to shop, [and] since it has a variety of different brands that I love,” Maya Wofsy ’21 said.
Nordstrom offers many popular brands for women: Canada Goose, Topshop, Golden Goose, Balenciaga and more. For men they offer brands such as Gucci, Nike and Vineyard Vines. Not only is there clothes, but Nordstrom has accessories, home and beauty products.
“It fits everyone’s needs [and] I can find many brands at one store I love,” Wofsy said.
“Norwalk Night Out” offered an exclusive chance to shop before the store officially opened on Oct. 11. There were cocktails, coffee, live music and food for the customers to enjoy while shopping the new fall looks.
Tickets cost $100 per person. All the proceeds benefited two non-profit organizations in Norwalk. The organizations the money went to are Fairfield County’s Community Foundation and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center.
“I think it’s good they are opening a mall closer to people who can’t go to further malls like Trumbull. It is more convenient and a fun place to go with friends,” Basha Perkins ’24 said.
Eighty-two stores are opening at the new upscale mall in Norwalk. The mall will include Connecticut’s first Amazon store. Along with Sephora, Bloomingdales, Victoria’s Secret, and more stores have announced their opening in the SoNo Collection.
“I am excited to see all the new stores, so I can shop in person rather than ordering my stuff online,” Justin Honig ’21 said.
