Rolling Loud adopts new bag policy
Beginning with the Rolling Loud music festival, a new bag policy has been enacted for all U.S. festivals as a safety precaution. There are no backpacks, purses or bags allowed unless they are 12″ x 6″ x 12, are clear plastic, vinyl and not manufactured by skin from animals. Festival goers may also bring one gallon Ziploc bags or a clutch bag that is no bigger than 4.5″ x 6.5”.
The Rolling Loud music festival is taking place in Queens, New York on Oct. 12-13 for the first time ever. This festival began in Miami, Florida but has now become the biggest hip hop festival in the entire world.
“I am a bit frustrated that for Rolling Loud they are not allowing bags that can fit my stuff,” Julia Marmelo ’20 said. “It’s not convenient because I usually keep money and sweatshirt in my bag in case it gets cold but now I have to hold everything.”
This year, Rolling Loud will not only take place in New York and Miami, but it has been expanded to Hong Kong and the Bay Area. According to the Rolling Loud website, in the near future they plan on expanding to Japan, China and Europe.
Additionally, water bottles and hydration packs must be clear and emptied out prior to entering the festival. This policy is being used in hope for more safety.
“Clear bags are safer,” Nicholas Stamoulous ’21 said, “because then people can see what’s in your bag and security will be much better.”
