For generations, nail polish has been an icon of beauty. Legendary gorgeous women like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe were never spotted without glossy coats caressing the tips of their fingers. Advertisements crooned with promises of mystery and elegance. With one swipe, you too could look like Ms. Hepburn. Win the man of your dreams with “Revlon Red.”
While students at Staples High School students may not be choosing a color based on their love interest, nail décor still plays an important role in accessorizing. Carly Steckel ’14 is a prime example, infamous for her intricate designs. “It’s like you have ten little canvases with which you can do whatever you like,” says Steckel. “It’s a fun way to incorporate some crazy patterns without being too over-the-top.”
Since many of us don’t have a steady hand like Steckel, these simpler designs can be achieved by just about anyone.
You will need nude, taupe, and black nail polishes, top clear coat polish, and cotton tip applicators.
