Matthew Lev ’12 has created a plan to get local merchants involved in raising money for Save the Children.
Lev wanted to raise money for the organization and help local businesses by encouraging people to shop.
While volunteering weekly at Save the Children, Lev approached his supervisor, Jill Stetson, with an idea: Shop, Save & Support.
“I wanted to encourage local spending, stimulate Westport’s economy, and simultaneously raise money for a great cause,” Lev said.
On May 24, Shop, Save & Support will bring together a group of Westport retailers, Dovecote, Dress Code, HB Home, Henry Lehr, Jacadi, Lucy’s, and Soleil Toile, in a one day sales event. Customers will receive a discount on merchandise and the stores will donate a portion of the proceeds from each sale directly to Save the Children.
“Save the Children is a global relief organization based in Westport. It is always at the forefront of any crisis and its people are on the ground immediately to provide assistance to those in need on many levels.”
“Shop, Save & Support is a fun way to drive Westport’s economy while benefiting a great cause at the same time,” Lev said.
Lev hopes Shop, Save & Support will become an annual event, and will include more local businesses each year.
