Between nightly homework, everyone is guilty of the YouTube break.
It all starts with one video sent over Instant Message, or a link that someone posted as their Facebook status. Either way, from there, all hope is lost.
One video lures you to “Related Videos” which leads you to realize that you went from previewing Jay–Z’s new music video to watching a puppy that can’t roll back over.
So what YouTube videos have been sidetracking Staples students these days? We did a survey and here are your best video homework distractions.
5 “Leprechaun in Mobile, Alabama”
The community of Mobile, Alabama gathered on the streets looking for a leprechaun. In the video, people rallied and came up with nonsense explanations as to why there could possibly be a leprechaun hiding in a Mobile tree. One man even suited up head to toe in gear and carried his family’s “leprechaun flute” that has been passed on for generations. But if you’re not convinced, just take a look at the submitted sketch of the leprechaun. You will be sold for sure.
4 “BonQuiQui @ King Burger”
This video originated as a skit from “MAD TV,” but like most videos, it made its way over to YouTube. Although seen by some as racist, the video features a BonQuiQui seen by many as amusingly flamboyant. BonQuiQui is the notorious King Burger employee who does not seem to have the utmost respect for her customers. Her long nails and blonde hair attachments make her the sassy King Burger employee she is. She has coined the phrases “Don’t interrupt, rude” or “I will cut you”, which have inevitably shown up in several Staples’ students’ vocabularies.
3 “David After Dentist”
“David After Dentist” is what happens when a child undergoes anesthesia and his father records it fo the internet. David is known as the confused child in the backseat of a car saying “I feel funny. Why do I feel funny?” and “Is this real life?” as he rolls his head. All the while his amused dad snickers in the background.
2 “Scarlet Takes a Tumble”
This video starts out as a standard YouTube recording of a woman singing into the camera. However, Scarlet takes one step too far on her coffee table and tumbles off the table and onto the ground. The video concludes with Scarlet stating “that really hurt” as if we did not realize she was in pain from the last two minutes of the video that were dedicated to her moaning in agony on the floor.
1 “Amazing Bicycle Kick Goal Off Throw In”
The Staples soccer phenomenon has spread farther than the Westport community through YouTube. The surveyed students could not get enough of Brendan Lesch ’11’s bicycle kick goal from Mikey Scott ’11’s throw in during the scrimmage against Wethersfield High School at Staples’ Loeffler Field.
